New Homes

Planning Permission has been granted for a new dwelling and garage in the green belt for a farm worker designed by James Bell Architecture.  The design is a two storey cottage with lime render and Cheshire brick cladding to an oak frame structure.  The garage will be constructed in an oak frame and also clad in oak.  The traditional design is aimed to be sympathetic to the agricultural character of the rural landscape.  The design sees an extension to a dwelling design that already had an existing planning permission, but it will make the property far more spacious and useable

The introduction of this one-stop-shop set up specifically for homeowners will be the first such approach by a local council. It is set up to provide homeowners with advice on planning and building as well as dealing with issues such as property searches and street naming.

With the Self-Build and Custom House Building Bill passing the final stage in the Commons, making land available for those interested in building their own home, and the RIBA lobbying politicians with “#BuildaBetterBritain” campaign, demanding the construction of more quality new homes, there is an active revival in the home building industry which will proactively encourage unique self-build projects.  This will hopefully lead to the creation of more diversity in the type of homes available.  Cheshire East’s new consultancy service if it succeeds will hopefully foster this rising interest in the custom build sector.
